This was my first attempt at beading a 20s reproduction gown, and was attempted shortly after seeing the 80s film the "Cotton Club" with Diane Lane in a smashing silver getup. The body of the gown is black French lace over a black full slip. I simply filled in the natural design of the lace with silver and black beads. The hemline is an asymmetrical fringe of silver and black tipped with black plastic rondelles. The shoulders of the dress are a spiderweb or latticework design made by stringing beads together both vertically and horizontally and then creating "joints" at the intersections with larger silver beads. While simpler in design than some of my later attempts, it was still a successful venture into the medium of working with beads and fabric.
