The hemline is curved primarily due to the necessity of following the patterns already provided by the lace. It curved, so the hemline curved as well. I had not ever attempted a beaded dress up to this point, so wanted to keep the challenges in design to a minimum. Although perhaps not as clearly visible as I'd like, you can see the protruding lace design on the underslip, which I used to create the illusion of a second tier to the dress.
